Barely two weeks after the presidency gave an order for the immediate clearing of Apapa expressway and its environs, report has it that the situation has remained the same.
It should be recalled that the presidency issued out the directive on Wednesday, May 22, where it said that all trucks must leave the bridges and roads on Apapa, Premium Times reports.
A recent visit paid to the environment by Premium Times showed that nothing really has changed as some roads still remained blocked.
Some trucks that used to park on Eko Bridge have left Ijora, thereby totally causing massive to those coming to the area from Costain.
At Ijesha, however, along Oshodi-Apapa expressway, trucks were well parked on a side of the service lane, making the expressway free.
The situation is worse on roads linking Second Rainbow to Mile 2, down to Coconut and Tin Can First Gate as trucks could not even make any headway.
A driver, Johnson, lamented how he has spent two weeks trying to move his trucks from Sanya to Mile 2, expressing how frustrated he is.
“I’ve spent two weeks on this road just to move from Sanya to Mile 2 here.
“They passed us a bit last week which was why I was able to move from Sanya to this place but since two days ago, I have not moved an inch from this spot.
No security agency has come trouble us, they cannot because it is not our fault, the road is blocked. They only removed all those on the service lane and even towed some,” he said.
Julius Agison, another truck driver, only said he has spent days on the road, saying the damaged condition of the Apapa road is the main reason for the gridlock.
